We met at the City College of New York. I (Katryna), sister of Sigma Rho Phi (local sorority) was working at the EDM office and had just come out of a diffcult graduate experience and work experience, when I met "Bennie", a TEP brother (gasp, I know)! We hit it off extremely well and spent every day getting to know each other and watching Batman episodes :)
On his birthday, August 14th 2006, I took Bennie to a French cafe for dinner, where he proceeded to grill me on my intentions for him! Of course, I was shy and reluctant to tell him how I really felt (I had fallen madly in love with him). His purpose was to ask to be his girlfriend, and of course I accepted!!!
On our 1 year 3 month anniversary (yes, we celebrate monthaversaries), Bennie took me to our French cafe and acted so weird to me the whole night :( When we were leaving, Bennie asked me to point out the exact spot where he asked me to be his girlfriend (right outside the cafe), which I did, and then he got down on one knee and said "Will you marry me?" but his hands were empty! So I said haha very funny! He then asked "how does a man propose to a woman?" I rolled my eyes and said you get a ring, get down one one knee and ask her to marry you! So he gets back on his knee and asks me, but this time pulls out a red velvet heart box with a BEAUTIFUL GORGEOUS UNIQUE RING!!! It has a pink sapphire center stone (my birthstone, which i love, IN PINK!!) and 12 diamonds surrounding it. Bennie likes to say that The pink sapphire (me) is on a pedestal surrounded by diamonds (other women)! It was sooo unexpected!!! Of course I said yes!!! Here is the ring!
The rest as they say, is HISTORY!!!! Now comes the fun part!!!
THE DRESS
I got my dress by going to the Running of the Brides!!! I went to the one in NY on February 29th 2008, with my mother, my twin sister, and my little sister (sorority) Priscilla. I got there at 4 pm and stayed til 8 pm and found the dress right when I was leaving to buy another (not as nice) dress. This is a Maggie Sottero Bliss
On me it looks even better when tied up! This is me with it untied and about to take it off
It looks even better in person!! Me and my mother washed it by hand with woolite by laying it flat in our tub, soaking it with water, puting a bit of woolite and just shaking it (no scrubbing) and the dirt came right off! I will probably have it steamed before the wedding. Doesn't need ANY alterations! Love Maggie!!
Anywhooo... To the details!
We have a venue in mind (Antun's of Queens) but we haven't visited yet so it may or may not work out.... The colors, we want them to be Black, Gold and Fuschia. The bridesmaids will probably wear either fuschia or black dresses with fuschia bows. In case you haven't noticed, I LOVE FUSCHIA!! The invitations will be DYI!
